She Was One In A Million – How I Met Aaliyah

More posts I digged up from my old website that is no more using Wayback Machine a god send. Today is a sad day as it’s the anniversary of Aaliyah’s death and is the 18th year she has not been here to bless us with her spirit and talents. For those who don’t know who she was Aaliyah was a singer, actress and committed dancer and was a triple threat in the 90s and had a promised 2000s, before she was killed in a plane crash on August 25th 2001 after shooting the video Rock The Boat and died at the age of 22. Sometime around 97, I was lucky enough to meet Aaliyah in person at my school in Bristol here in the U.K. I always loved Aaliyah and Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number, her debut album was on blast everywhere I went. A lot of debate too was she being too gangsta in the style of her clothes? Was management trying to capitalize on gangsta rap and Mary J Blige’s success so much talk, all said and done they loved her and had that number one selling album and her spirit which was laid back, cool but mystical glow around her and nothing but positive energy. One Nation was the one for me smooth she kept it, just stop right there with all that swag harmonic goodness and At Your Best the remix version is, in my opinion, the 90s banger that shows off the best of 90’s slow jams/R’n’B but I have many favorites which are below. When she came to my school in 97 she just released or was about to release her second album of her career One In A Million, she was wearing combat trousers and had her trademark dark glasses on and was on the stage of the main hall of the school. I was having a rough time at that point and wasn’t the best time to meet one of your idols and I wasn’t even going to go but I thought I have to as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity as the teachers kept banging on about we were all excited, well must of us was. She sang If Your Girl Only Knew the New Remix and another track which I can’t remember which one it was. Afterwards, she did a meet and greet and I can say people she is the sweetest person.and a good sense of humor I know the sense of humor bit as I was watching her and she was busting jokes with the crew she was with and I could sense she was outgoing and my kind of girl. I managed to have a couple of minutes conversation where somehow she asked me about what music do I listen to I think I told her my dad has got your album and we love it somehow she asked me what music do I like and I can’t remember which artists I said one of them was SWV I am a big R’n’B fan especially slow jams and club tracks but she said I had swag which I blushed at and still do every time as I don’t see it as swag I just label it as good music and bad music there is no swag in my eyes fashion is different though but I do know it’s not a bad thing if you don’t push too hard being swag.

As I said I always liked Aaliyah but after meeting her she has always been with me music-wise and is someone I looked up to as an idol her, Missy Elliot and anything Timbaland produced in the ’90s and early 2000s. It’s a shame thinking about it breaking up the unstoppable trio who knows where she would have been now probably taking a backseat like the other 90’s artists but I feel there was a hole in music after her death as that trio was no more and lacked that something special though there were a lot of good artists out there at that time it was just missing something. The impact of her death was a big one for me and I didn’t know it at the time but I suffer from psychosis and didn’t help my mental state. I know better now but at the time I was believing some trippy shit and hearing some trippy shit and I was convinced she was murdered and she was haunting people she marked as targets, funny now but at the time it was some scary stuff. I literally thought no one knew but a few people and the rich and famous of course. I linked everything from my meeting with her to what she was saying in the music which led me down some dark paths which I’m glad I take it differently now as I know better and know not to be scared of dumb stuff like celebrities and their so called elite powers. It made me do some crazy stuff like go on Twitter and Facebook and go on their pages to rant, yes I am sorry to those who I offended or upset that wasn’t funny and probably caused some damage or made people’s speculation more real to life but that’s what crazy does it makes you believe and do all sorts of crazy stuff. I can safely say that’s all behind me now and I can look at the brighter side of life but wow that was some stupid stuff but couldn’t be helped.  What I will say to the fans who loved and love Aaliyah is after meeting her and talking to her online as I was all up in the DMs and switchboards she’s a really nice person and don’t let no thirsty hoe make you think otherwise or draw into the fantasies and lies about her. Nothing was or can be proven even though I doubt that same with Beyonce while we are there or anyone for that matter unless it’s dragged to court and they lose their case or proven another way like yeah R.Kelly and Aaliyah was briefly married but that doesn’t mean to say she was a harlot or been tampered with.  I honestly think Aaliyah was more in love with R Kelly rather than R.Kelly being deeply in love with Aaliyah or they both were in each other arms which is why it really didn’t last and the fact it was void being she was underage at the time. We all knew nothing about Aaliyah more so on R.Kelly which was the dirty secret that was open and people were discussing from the Fiesta scandal to the Aaliyah marriage but it wasn’t proven and people were like he’s a god fearing man he can’t be Mr Nasty or it seemed like a nice man but addiction and control are bitches but how wrong we were. Not only that people has said nothing but nice things about her and no one apart from the drama channels on YouTube came out with Aaliyah’s frosty bits which does say a lot about her and her integrity and not only that I can read I generally pick up fake or mean people just the way they act when they think you are not looking or even when you are. Also what I mean to say is Aaliyah didn’t deserve what they put her through like okay if you are that bitch like Chakan so say is towards House music which is more lies and hysteria and speculation but if she was like the lies they put on Chakan as this one is 80s and 90s rumor that said if you used her music in a House song she would body bag you or something like that the other one was she was part of a booty gang all allegations I really doubt are are true but sure she may deserve some sort of dress down but she’s done nothing wrong and was NEVER part of any drama or scandal apart from the R.Kelly marriage which is why people like me who were watching her the whole time take issue with these low ass bitches starting hate circles by peddling fictitious rumors about her especially as she’s not her to clear her name and is so unfair on the family and friends who really knew Aaliyah more than I do or think I do as I’m just reading and the fans. That was part of the sad part for me watching dear sweet Aaliyah being dragged and attack by so called fans after peak hysteria hit with people like Tasha K and who ever else echoed her lies and they got so foul so so foul. It was on her Facebook fan page all over her videos all disrespecting her calling her used up, couldn’t happen to a better person after what I heard, being disgusted as she allegedly not even allegedly in my book as it didn’t happen anyway they suggested she always had a STI or STD she died with one and passed around the infections as she was this stale woman. The lies were endless and heartbreaking cos I can not see for Adam Eve or Toffee how she was made the target unless it came from the R.Kelly fans. I mean a line from Offset’s and Cardi B’s track Clout there must be some sort of drought going on for these people and so thirsty for a sip of water and also taking the crown like Mich did Elvis which I always took that after hearing it a couple of times how they are bragging about how they defamed someone in clout terminology or stole their crown unlawfully. Anyway I’m not putting up with it and already trolled Tasha K in the past and made her trip up a few times there I was in her YouTube comments and it was a honor. At the end of the day I only defend good people with good character I mean sure I could make up a million excuses on my they are not such a bad person or purposely ignore a sign as I really don’t know what they are thinking or think like but that’s a cop out and I do believe in judging people’s character if it is shady or messed up but no Aaliyah allegation is going turn me away from the nice kind spirit she was and I’m certainly not going to pretend or think otherwise just because some skinny bitches need feeding or in most cases for materialistic objects that spoil this earth but hey I love designer clothes and  flashy things even though I don’t entertain or want that sort of stuff I like practical things but I would if I could I would just not so showy but they have reasons these internet influencers. I was going to make a mix but I thought I do a post instead some of my favorites Aaliyah tracks throughout the years she was here, so here they are in a playlist found on my second Soundcloud page I have one that is paid for which is for my unreleased stuff and the one that is being paid for of my released stuff and part of my distributing package and also playlists of songs in playlist form I just rate and inspire me from a wide range of genres from all sorts of decades.
