More posts I digged up from a previous website that is no more and this post was originally made in 2019 in the height of lets call it WAP gate where people started to question again the state of rap and the over sexualization content especially female Hip Hop but male Hip Hop too that is now we are all accustomed and acquainted with.
About a month ago the new single WAP was out which I’m sure most of you have heard at least once and the world went crazy and started all crazy stuff like a beef between Carole Baskin and Cardi B and a whole lot of bitching followed by apologizes. Myself I think the song is very racy and should be more on a album away from young ears but saying that we had How Many Licks which was a commercial hit but even then the lyrics were rude but not full throttle and the video was innocent just a barbie factory unlike the WAP song. I do like it actually not the first time but the second play I was bopping along to it and liked the whores in this house bit before I was kind of I like but I don’t like this. Even the title itself it’s dripping with sex even though it is quite subtle until you find out what it means it’s still like how can they get away with that, wow times have really changed now. Comparing How Many Licks by Lil’ Kim and Sisqo to WAP by Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B I still found it hard to judge which one was more rudder or hyped up with a lot of sexy time moments. I found they both nearly had the same amount of profanity’s in and some lines were rudder then others or at least it had the same flow of rudeness but the videos there was no contest.
I came to the conclusion that WAP felt more rudder than How Many Licks and was more in your face cos how many licks does it take to get to the center of the ????? who knows cos it’s not said the hook basically implies something what is it I don’t know, the universe! I know some people have trouble with female rappers going hard on topics like sex and relationships but I say men can do it so can the ladies and it’s no different or shocking and in case you are wondering I would be shocked if a male rapper said it it’s not so saying it it’s how and where it is played that makes me laugh but it doesn’t offend me I’m just like how do you get away with that. I think most people are offended by the word sex or misjudge you by what you say and that is annoying but I don’t live for them and yes I don’t talk about my sex life but I don’t mind talking about sex and having funny conversations and as I said being a Foxy Brown, Lil’ Kim, Trina Khia from day one or as they emerged into light nothing is new or foul it’s just like the males but a lady chatting her shit but nooo ladies have to be lady like at all times and that is wrong as it’s misogynists and also sexist and once again that must be annoying for them. The other thing is sex sales and is no made up tale so when Lil’Kim the blueprint of the state of female Hip Hop today did it she must of been fully aware due to people like Notorious B.I.G. telling her this but she must of been aware and knowing what she was saying and doing was going get people to talk much faster and also in empower woman who were tired of being treated like the hoe or keep getting disrespected by men in a number of ways. Sexy records ain’t new and stems back to Jazz and Blues with people like Ella Fitzgerald singing about how Santa Claus got stuck in the chimney to such songs like Drill Daddy Drill where she sings “if the well gets dry try another hole” which is pure potty mouth for that time and still shocking in this day and age but still tongue in cheek like the loved Carry On films. I do like a good smutty line it’s funny to me until you hear of minors picking up the song and I do mean 7-11 years old but I am a believer of strict ish parenting especially for young girls and teenagers as you don’t want them blossoming so to speak too early though at the right age it’s up to them what they do that doesn’t harm or embarrass them.
What I found also annoying is when you make a joke or say something and that person starts to judge you cos what you said even though it was just a joke or passing comment I laugh personally I used to get offended but nowadays I just think you don’t know me so judge away. I think that is what female rappers get too they get judged by their work so they are like oh they must be a dirty in real life as she raps so dirty on her raps and then the speculation starts. I can see how some people think it is degrading women and treating them as sex objects but I do think if a lady wants to talk about her southern parts and say how she wants them right now and you better be putting down a deposit before I’m sleeping with you, let it be and I probably be laughed at but men do it all the time in different ways the way they talk about meeting up with girls having sex and meeting another girl and having a affair and how many hoes what I heard as I like to hear both sides it’s the women’s response to the men making them feel like sex objects and to check them and empower themselves of course and I based my information on information I have received from various sources like YouTube and people I know so ladies sorry if I got it wrong or seem wrong as that’s the rap honeys take on it and not just in rap but Dancehall as well where it’s nothing new and way before the Lil’Kim/Foxy Brown era where they was talking about rubbing their quote unquote pum pum and how they need to satisfy them as that good for nothing men couldn’t swing his rout but they called it Ragga back then before it was changed to Dancehall which later became the umbrella term to use for both Reggae and Dancehall which is new style Ragga and Reggae even though there is a slight difference between Dancehall and Reggae we all know what Reggae sounds like but Dancehall is usually upbeat, danceable edgier sounds with a quicker MC like flow to it but in heavy Patois spoken delivery which is easy to whine your waist to if you can whine and it has it’s own dance moves such as the Dutty Whine, The Parachute, Signal Down The Plane, The Rockabye, The Tek Weh Yehself, The Log On and countless more. Some of the moves performed by the ladies can be seen as being proactive and loose rubbing up to strangers and simulating rubbing up their areas but that’s if you are not with the culture where all this mentioned is part of their culture and just party antics is what I would call it anyway some of it does amaze me but like all of it doesn’t offend me as I know these moves are normal practices and what to expect at a Dancehall event. So seeing sexy woman in little to nothing do sexy things in their music videos or sexy dance moves it keeps me entertained for the duration as it’s like watching a stripper or Dancehall Queen it’s memorizing at times and they are all good at pulling tricks and I am talking magic sexy magic.
I generally think sex sales and women are the definition of sexy from all the years of being told wear this, this looks hot, this make you look better and mainly advertised by women and I’m saying beauty and clothes products but other things too I mean back in the old days as what I make of it it’s more buy this and look on fleck rather than wear this to keep your man ever running away from you like that is the bottom line issue of infidelity. Also to mention the perfect housewife and what makes the perfect women has played a huge role on how society was and is run and I’m not sure now a days but I know women are more empowered now especially after the Me Too movement or so I heard. Of course the Republicans want the song banned and they probably will but it’s already got to number one on the Billboard 100 so I really don’t see the point of it now but will they pass a bill to stop such saucy videos and lyrics on our screens and speakers surely one day they will had enough. I was too young to understand the controversy of Baby’s Got Back by Sir Mix A Lot but that was like WAP only more PG like filter on the filter PG compared to the other track. I would like to know would MTV ban the video if they were still playing videos or would they have just played it after a certain time once the youngsters are in bed, I suppose none of that matters now with the internet when they can go and just search for it when no one is looking but there are ways around that I think. The other thing is with such a sex toned song you will expect a raunchy video to go along with it and yes times have changed and are it’s more explicitly then ever but as I said before and we all should know sex sales so if it offends you stop buying or streaming it or supporting that song or songs or artists just like that then technically the music industry will move on and I’m not speaking as a expert that is just from what I gather from trending things and phases when people stop buying stuff they move on to the next better thing and it gets fazed out and people ain’t stopping or bothered by it so there is no demand for it. I’m not surprised some of America didn’t like it, some parts were like the Janet Jackson Super Bowl event all boobs popping out, looking all pouncey, booties shaking everywhere oh yeah and the center piece at the beginning the fountain yes a eye catcher for the neighbors thinking about buying it for the communal garden of my flat. I mean really the video is something we have all seen before but the most explicit videos and songs get played at night like countless X-Rated music videos like Tip Drill, Big Pimpin’ and so many more I forgot about but as I said it’s mostly unregulated now with social media websites like YouTube where it is easy to catch up on something your age group shouldn’t see, hear or know at the younger age 7 – 11 where you start to learn about sex or how babies are made or at least start to question it all.
As you might of read if you read one of my posts I love female rap from a early age with Salt N Pepa but it was Lil’ Kim’s Hardcore especially the second track Big Momma Thang that got my attention. I then started to listen to other songs from that album and other songs like Back Stabbers and Players Anthem which I’ve heard before that but Hardcore really got my attention. It went from one track like that’s nasty to I like this a lot and the nasty track was Big Momma Thang cos they weren’t allowed to play Not Tonight in the gym or the stereo would of been confiscated, the track I actually track I liked the most after listening to some of the tracks in the school gym was Spend A Lil Doe as I liked the story telling and was similar to Back Stabbers which I can relate to but who can’t, so it does go to show that a bit of shock value does make you sit up and listen if that is right or not is a whole new debate. After hearing Hardcore I had a taste for explicit raps so Khia’s My Neck My Back, most of Lil’ Kim’s second album Notorious K.I.M, Trina’s Look Back At Me I was kind of or growing used to the explicitness though not in a make fun way but more jokey I used to make jokes about the songs and laugh with them as it’s funny to me a money sex hungry persona like woah she ain’t messing about. I must admit I played songs loud that I wouldn’t play now loud as not to offend the neighbours but my response was what she talking about get laid and getting paid get over it not in those words but something like that. I would still say that just cos you ain’t getting none Misses and Mr No Action don’t mean you have to stop other people’s fun but at the same time I get the whole commotion only cos younger fan bases who shouldn’t be on their top three best artists of all time or number one sweetie stick to K-Pop and Hannah Montana records as don’t think I was allowed to listen to anything too raunchy when I was younger I just about got away with Salt ‘n’ Pepa so when Adina Howard came along with Freak Like Me my dad was like noo way as listen to it as a adult the explicit version being which was being sold at that market or shop wherever it was did have that raunchy line in and full of sex I’m talking about a rough neck n**** that can satisfy her and I was around seven at the time way to young to be at the grown ass woman’s dressing table or going through her draws and hey there is nothing wrong with the ladies love gadgets. So do it like the Trump supporters hop on the boat and join them lol, if you don’t know what I’m on about I’m talking about the Trump supporters who were on a boat partying to WAP whilst the Republicans were complaining calling it smut probably trying to get it banned. Obviously Cardi let them know she wasn’t happy not being one herself a hater with a funny tweet basically saying it’s funny how they contradict themselves and also how they weren’t quarantined and how she was ringing the FBI on the “festivity” for not being quarantined.
The other top story related around the track which I briefly touched on earlier was the beef between Carole Baskin and Cardi B yes I’m sure you have all heard the weird exchange of words between the two and was after Carole criticized the use of leopards in the music video and argues that they get mistreated basically all to stand by a green screen and do their thing. Cardi responded by basically saying she won’t engage with a person who killed their husband though Cardi did later come out and say she acknowledges her points which I think is a good thing and glad she did. I think as bad as Carole is or is meant to be she still have some fair points I never agree with the use of animals in any entertainment field after watching many PETA videos and other animal organizations clips and it upsets and makes me angry, all for other people’s entertainment and we let it happen by buying into it, it’s the same thing I was on about with sex sells and if people didn’t buy into it there wouldn’t be no product well same principles. I know it’s traditional but it’s cruel and inhumane the whole practise and is something that should be stopped as I say to people if we have a debate it seems a silly one but so true but I would say would you like that done to you the whole ordeal so why do it to the animals also if it’s not allowed on humans why animals they should be protected too especially with things like that yes it does get me angry, I just hope they worldwide ban it one day that would be a good day definitely. For those who don’t know about Carole Baskin she appeared on a online documentary called Tiger Kings and related to the mysterious death and disappearance of Don Lewis her husband and owner of Big Cat Rescue. People blamed Carole and accused her of murdering her husband Don and feeding the remains to the tigers they had as no body was ever traced he just vanished without a trace with no suggestion of foul play. I haven’t watched the documentary but I heard a lot about it on YouTube which is how I digest any scandal or topic of the day, month or year like the R.Kelly scandal to the P. Diddy scandal and even business scandals you know I must admit I have been keeping up with the makeup scandals even though I do insists I was watching them to see what they were flashing to watching their scandals and reviews on products just to see what they would say I clicked on many pointless for me videos just to see what that person or people would say and see if they would trash or smash the product it’s fun and informative or to see what was the next big scandal they were part of or linked to or got dragged into without being asked to be part of the conversation. But I liked to be informed about all the above and stay up to date with all the big dramas to keep myself better informed in the situation and not to fall victim to supporting the wrong person but most things I can overlook without personally cancelling them which means not tuning in when they have a new track, video or whatever out and to keep clear of them but still be informed in their scandal to hopefully get some closure on the thing or in most cases to make your fairest and open decisions on who was right or wrong and who I would back and wouldn’t back without taking sides or being to one sided like not understanding their point of view or circumstance or running along with the crowd without doing your own research on it but as I said some of it is easy to understand from a once troubled person who researched their and other people’s problems and became good at fixing problems or understanding them as some of it just takes understanding but I do like a good old tea channel IE a gossip channel who is willing to give us the real tea and read the room so one we all know where we stand and two to help people like me who has world issues in my best interest and like to know what the people would say as most of it is public perception which I think is still important to have the right public perception if you want to make it especially in Hollywood with a successful brand under your belt. That doesn’t mean to cheat your audience by lying to them or being part of a big scandal or shit show like Brexit or MAGA cos you would rather the power and money and all the above is slipping away from you since your time at the top is nearly up and I’m pointing at more than one person right now. So in short bringing it back to what this topic is really about before I went left it doesn’t matter about what the ladies are saying in those raps even though it pumped to minors or the minors get involved. Yes it may be redundant and over talked about topics but music must have some sort of structure anyway even though this is not the right structure it needs some sort of structure. Also it takes away from the people I mean the traitors who jump ship after being cancelled or laid off or going broke or powerless and support Brexit or MAGA or both all to recapture their glory days when they were successful, wealthy and had a lot of power. It’s those sort of people we should all go after and no not burn down their house like a Left Eye insert but to cancel them and not support them or the brands I mean parties they are with. I like Megan Thee Stallion and I like Cardi B I like all the new girls and I like a good female rap not matter how raunchy it may be so even though nothing is new in the Jazz mags of the music world it still should be carefully monitored if can to safeguard children and to fight things like child and sex exploitation two big serious words I can see how it’s worrying for everyone involved and of course pier pressure another troublesome thing kids and teenagers and even adults are a victim of even though you do get a certain age and you think otherwise. It’s about your carbon foot prints and knowing what you are doing and getting into so that does may mean becoming a child exploitation advocate or donating to money to charities and causes they say you do no good for as I don’t believe in donating just to look good or make out you did your part and in most cases causes that they would like to became a part of and do some good with their money instead of spending it all on meaningless items and purchases but I’m not a s cynical person saying that and after understanding their role in the millionaire or billionaire club and their missions and roles they have as most of them want to get rich and feel they did something good in this life and was part of something that is everlasting and exciting to be part of whilst helping others who may have similar or the same story as you so I don’t believe in being cynical and shouting down good people by making out they are out of touch and just doing this just to look good as bitch Bono and the others always cared so it’s important to let them get on with their job.
To end this debate I’m going to leave a mix I made four years ago before I was making music just before that actually. I would make random mixes and put them online not even with DJ software just music editing software which was the only software I owned at the time but one of them was a explicit mix with all my favorite explicit songs on both male and female from Ludacris, Lil’ Kim, Trina, Notorious B.I.G, Nicki Minaj, Khia, 50 Cent, LL Cool J and Mase. I warn you it ain’t called explicit for no reason and does get hotter than the last heatwave racy indeed unless you’ve heard the songs already then here’s a trip down memory lane for you, so enjoy.
