07/01/2023 - New EP Release; Striking Hour
To welcome in the new year with a Synthwave EP. I actually was testing out an old synth plugin which I love it has some good Synthwave sounds on them and by that, I mean authentic Synthwave or 80s synth music sounds. The EP is mostly energetic apart from the first track which is the slowest of the four and some of the tracks have Blues and a bit of Jazz incorporated in them. I had to get out the 80s drum kit for this one and used it in all my tracks as even though I have a good collection of drums I struggle to remember which one goes on what genre for that authentic look. Last year was alright I suppose but I could have done better with some things I hope 2023 will be a better year for me and I don’t really do much nowadays apart from making music and other things to keep me sane and active. I know a lot of people are now happy being at home and doing nothing but what they want to do but I’m going the other way and having my time at home now I really want to get out there and be young and active again which I was active when I was younger and did a lot of things as I said on my other website and in the about section of both this website and randomgas.com. I called it Striking Hour for new year’s but also when the clock hits that time be ready to do the dash so yes a bit of Cinderella-inspired bit to the title of the album. I don’t really make much Synthwave so it was good to make some and I think it came out alright though I know I could do a little better with adding more textures and stuff to the songs I’m happy with them and I hope you like them to be honest but I will be making more Synthwave and other 80s genres in the near future.

Two Spliffs In The Ashtray – New Year Special; Top Ten House Tracks; EP 2
I’m back with another podcast and it’s a New Year’s Eve Special and a top ten of my favourite House tracks so this podcast will be all House music I will do other genres in the future but sandwich in with other topics. House has always been a salvation to me and there are loads of tracks I used to have which I downloaded but I couldn’t get them off my old laptop which broke and I didn’t backup files like I do now. I hope all the songs are high energy and you like them there isn’t much talking but more music in this one I will try and do a more and less talking kind of routine depending on the topic and time of year. I picked the best release songs that make me want to dance or dance harder and I also did it from my least to favourite if I can use the word least favourite loosely as they are all my favourites and may of over played most of them just a little bit. I’m not doing anything tonight as tonight is New Year’s Eve and the last afternoon of the year which I hope my year is more better if only I can get moving but I’m trying and doing my thing. This year has been a eventful year I mean it’s funny as I always believed something bad was going to happen in 2022 and the queen dying was proof I was right without being too much of a smart ass about it. I would say I’m glad another year is over but I’m really not I’ll be 38 next year so I’m nearly 40 even though I don’t look like it apart from the grey hair which I refuse to dye for multiple reasons. Anyway whatever you are doing or did depending on when you read this Happy New Year and have a safe and good or I hope you had a safe and good one. PS there isn’t much talk of New Year’s Eve just music and talk why I love the track etc so if you are a House fan and it’s past New Year I encourage you to listen to it anyway, I hope you enjoy it and once again Happy New Year. 🙂
Two Spliffs In The Ashtray Podcast; Introduction – EP 1
My first podcast and a bit of music and talk from haters, clout, female rappers, my life, mental health, police, institutional racism and more with music from Madonna, Martin Ikin, E-Zee-Posse and more in this hour-and-a-half random talk. Just a warning there is bad language and I am unscripted so if you like a bit of banter and serious talk please stick around. I do plan on doing more podcasts in the future probably starting with one every week to two weeks and then a month thereafter. It will be different topics each time but this one is mainly about me and just a small introduction of myself and a bit about me. This podcast can also be found on my SoundCloud page and also on Podbean for now but will always be under the main menu of this site randomgas.com. I hope to do a lot of research and make some interesting podcasts but for now here is myself talking I am new to this and was kind of shy so please excuse me if there were any mistakes I did try to edit it as best as possible I must admit though I didn’t do it the best way anyway here is my first podcast and I will shorten it down the next one as this one was a bit long but alright to make apart from the editing the wav files. Oh, one last thing I hate getting on the mic usually and I’ve been meaning to get on the mic and talk or even better the camera but I’ve been too shy to do that so I decided to start on the mic and work my way up. This nearly didn’t happen as I was going to use AI text-to-speech with my own voice though and type it up but now I did it I’m glad I did as it wasn’t that bad after all.

More winter synthy vibes as it was sort of cold out I say sort of as -2 ain’t -40 but it was icy and cold like the ridiculous cold but not as bad as some other places in the world. I love it when it snows though it’s when I like to go out and make snowmen and walk in the snow when I had my dog Patch we used to go out every year when it was snowing she used to love the snow I haven’t been out for years in the snow since she passed away but I do like winter walks in the snow just as long as it’s not that slippery. This EP is not Christmas related but about winter though it could be played around Christmas if you want. I also like to make winter music in the winter as I probably said a few times now and I also like listening to winter music whilst snowing to get that proper feel to it hopefully this EP will suit you well. When I was on Flickr I used to take pictures of the snow down country lanes and stuff and they came out the terrible, cheap cameras if you ask me but it was nice to have some photos of the snow and me and the dog and the snowman but I do prefer summer but winter is a time I either like to stay in or go out sometimes it’s too cold to go out or I’m just tired or if it’s too slippery out there. Mind you I didn’t look forward to the winter when I was growing up hanging around in those streets night after night with my two layers and Wooley hat we used to hang around the back of the supermarket when it was proper cold but so obvious as the police were always called. I remember on New Year’s Eve it was how cold it was I was pissed let’s say and I vowed never to be in the cold again not that I kept to promise now I enjoy staying in in the hot and cold weather but I do want to change that and get out a bit more.

More Jungle and Drum & Bass for you. I named it Phone Calls From The Past as I believe in leaving the past in the past along with all the baggage including frenemies in the past. It’s sort of like an old phone you don’t use anymore or a person you don’t wish to speak to and not picking up on them. It’s important to make mistakes my worse mistake is taking so much crap from some micro-aggressive people who run around for fish sticks and clout I mean wtf man, but anyway moving on. I always say you should only forgive for so long I mean I person can make that same foul mistake and believe me it has to be foul before you say enough is enough I now admit being too nice isn’t the way forward but you still have to be nice and forgiving in some degree but it depends on what they did. Also, the EP is about the good times of the past some more of that as well it’s sort of like having a funny conversation over the phone that makes you laugh. It’s also about leaving the past in the past and moving forward with your life with or without the people you once cared for which is a hard decision and not one I take lightly. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter where you are now only you can move forward and advance to where you want to be in life but the phone calls are our memories and what we hold dear. Also knowing when to put down the phone and to be strong enough to walk away at the best point before it gets sour but hey that’s relationships for you but we all need one.
